All Details

Hello, lover of lasting color and glossy foliage! I am the Anthurium, a stunning tropical plant celebrated for my vibrant, waxy "flowers" and glossy, heart-shaped leaves. My true flowers are the tiny bumps on the central spike (called a spadix), while the colorful, leaf-like part is a modified leaf known as a spathe. I bloom almost continuously throughout the year, bringing a bold, modern, and long-lasting pop of color to your home. I'm here to add a touch of the tropics with my polished and dramatic appearance.

I am an evergreen perennial with a clumping growth habit.
My most iconic feature is my spectacular spathe, which comes in brilliant shades of red, pink, white, coral, and even green. It is incredibly long-lasting, often remaining colorful for months.
I am a relatively low-maintenance houseplant that offers both beautiful foliage and stunning, long-lasting "blooms."

I am native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, including regions in Colombia and Ecuador.

I enjoy consistent moisture but am very susceptible to root rot.
Water me thoroughly when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. I prefer lukewarm water. Allow excess water to drain completely, and never let me sit in a saucer of water.
I am sensitive to both overwatering (which causes yellow leaves) and underwatering (which causes brown, crispy leaf tips).

I thrive in bright, indirect light. A spot near an east-facing window is perfect.
I can adapt to medium indirect light, but my growth and flowering will be slower. Direct, harsh sunlight will scorch my beautiful leaves and fade my colorful spathe.

I am a true tropical plant. My ideal temperature range is between 18°C and 26°C.
I am very sensitive to cold and drafts. Keep me away from temperatures below 15°C, air conditioners, and heating vents. I love high humidity.

Potting Mix: I require a chunky, airy, and well-draining potting mix. A blend designed for orchids (with bark and perlite) or an aroid mix is perfect. This prevents soggy roots.

Pot: Always choose a pot with ample drainage holes.

Repotting: Repot me every 2-3 years in spring, or when I become root-bound. I like to be slightly pot-bound, which can encourage flowering.

Cleaning: Gently wipe my large, glossy leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and allow them to breathe and shine.

I am a light to moderate feeder.
During my active growing season (spring and summer), feed me with a balanced, liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half-strength every 4-6 weeks.
Alternatively, use a slow-release fertilizer at the beginning of the season. Over-fertilizing can harm my roots and prevent blooming.

Most Common Species: Anthurium andraeanum

Common Names: Flamingo Flower, Laceleaf, Tailflower

Plant Family: Araceae (The Arum family)

Plant Type: Tropical Evergreen Perennial

I am toxic to cats and dogs.
I contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. If chewed or ingested, I can cause oral irritation, intense burning, drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing. Please keep me out of reach of your pets.

Yes! I am a powerful air-purifying plant. According to NASA's Clean Air Study, I am effective at removing various airborne toxins, including formaldehyde, ammonia, xylene, and toluene.

Long-Lasting Color: My colorful spathes can last for 2-3 months or more, providing continuous color.

Air Purifying: I am a champion at cleaning the indoor air.

Low Maintenance: I am relatively easy to care for once my light and water needs are met.

Year-Round Interest: I offer both beautiful foliage and near-constant "flowers."

Brown Leaf Tips: Usually caused by low humidity, underwatering, or a buildup of salts from tap water.

Yellowing Leaves: Often a sign of overwatering. Check the soil moisture and ensure proper drainage.

No Flowers: Typically due to insufficient light. Move me to a brighter location (but out of direct sun).

Pests: Can be susceptible to common houseplant pests like aphids, mealybugs, thrips, and spider mites, especially in low-humidity conditions.

I am a long-lived perennial. With proper care, I can thrive and bloom in your home for many years, even a decade or more. I am a slow grower but will gradually form a larger, more impressive clump over time.

Everyday: from 9:00AM to 7:00PM
